Lia Petronio is a Data Visualization Designer working primarily in website-based projects. She earned her MFA at Northeastern University in Information Design and Visualization. She earned her BFA at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts in Design and Drawing, Summa Cum Laude.

Lia is currently working at Northeastern University in the Department of Communication in External Affairs as Data Visualization Designer in their digital newsroom.

In the spring of 2017 she worked as a freelance Data Visualization Specialist at Cell Press, a biomedical journal, where she is the author of a publication featuring her interactive visualization which represents the citation life-cycles for each paper in journals ten-year history. In addition, Lia taught 5-D Tools as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Northeastern University. Other past professional work experience includes Northeastern University’s Communications Department in External Affairs and Theater Department; and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Mobile Experience Lab.

Through her education and work experience she has become passionate about designing data visualizations to provide legible viewpoints from which we can formulate and answer more informed questions.
